We are a small woodworking company, our studio is located in Andover Minnesota. We try to use local Minnesota wood for our products, however we are always on the lookout for the most unique exotic woods from across the world.  Some woods are more valued than others.
My grandad, Sam G Powers, was a wood turner - this is where I learned to turn wood and developed a passion for the art.  My grandparents lived in Tennessee and Oklahoma, I spent many of summers with him going to wood mills in Tennessee and watching him take pieces of logs and turning them into beautiful things.  I would hope he is proud of the turnings I commission.
When turning a piece, I start with a design however the wood normally decides where to let it's beauty show.  I do not use harsh chemicals to try to make the wood shine "artificially" and use natural finish, like Walnut oil, beeswax.  Our bowls are food safe and are made to be passed down as heirlooms, like many of my grandads have been.
